Architecture in Bergen

A study of arcitecture in Bergen. Bergen has a lot of old houses, since its a very old city and alot of culture has been preserved through many years. Here is three different examples:

Each photo has been lightly edited in Photoshop with tools as Auto Tune, Auto Contrast and Auto Color. I have also edited the light and colors more to make the photos better.

Composition with lines

This photo is taken at Bergen trainstation. It contains horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines. I like the way the diagonal lines drags the viewers attention to a point near the middle of the photo.

This is from outside the school building. Here its also 3 types of lines.

With this theme, I learned alot about photographies. As visible in my chosen photos, I like combining all of the 3 directions just to mark my point. Both of them are rotated, cut and edited in Photoshop.

Photography in the dark

Since its dark outside when we get to school, my teacher thought it was a good idea to use this opportunity to practice with shooting photografies where its not many light sources. In both of my photos, I use the light sources to create contrast between light and dark.

Monotype print

We tried printing this week. Me and my Print and Photo-class were supposed to take a selfie, draw a moustache on ourself and make it black and white. This is the one I chose, unedited and edited.

After we took the picture, put a glassplate over it, and painted on it with black ink. It looked like this.

After that, we put a paper over the ink and pressed it. And of course, the prints are inverted because that's how the printing method works.

Here is my first print. The ink is poor, because I used too much time on the painting part so the ink had almost dried.

On my second print I was quicker with the ink, so the colour is better. However, the print is full of white spots where it is supposed to be black. This is because I painted over the first print, and couldn't see where I needed paint and not.

On my third print, I wanted more colours, so I painted the hair red instead of black. Again, I used too much time. The face isn't as bad as in the first print, but the hair vas very faded.

Fourth print. Of course I wanted the colours to be much clearer, so I tried soaking the paper before printing. This helps the paper to absorb more colour. I'm satisfied with this print because it got a bit shadowy, which creates a mystical effect.

On the last print I had time to make, I decided to have white ink on black paper. It turned out very blurry, because the white ink was very thick in common to the black, and I soaked the paper to get more colour. The combination made the print a bit spooky.

My favourite is the third one, because the face turned out well (and I care a lot about how I look). I really liked this project because I like painting and I want to get better at it.

Aperture

                                   Aperture

This photo is photoshopped because it was originally very light. It's a bit blurry, because my hands are not the steadiest >_> but practice makes perfect.
